Many people, including Saba Ali Khan, have come forward in support of Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s second son Jeh’s name. Even during their first son’s naming ceremony, the name Taimur was criticised. While Saba wrote that only parents are allowed to make decisions for their kids, Kareena focused on tackling the situation with positivity.
Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor’s Baby – Taimur – has been a subject of troll since he was born on 20 December 2016. However, now, with the intense trolling of Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan’s decision of naming their second son – Jeh, Saba Khan has come forward to defend the couple. But let’s understand what caused the rage in the first place.
Controversy Over Kareena Kapoor’s Second Son Name
Kareena Kapoor’s son-name has caused quite an outrage. While people lovingly call Kareena’s second son Jeh, she clarified in an interview that his name was actually Jehangir Ali Khan. This revelation was made during a recent live session conducted by Kareena on her Instagram page for her newly launched book ‘Pregnancy Bible’.
Saba’s Defence On Saif and Kareena Kapoor’s Second Son Name
Saba Khan had something very accurate to say about the controversy over Kareena, Saif’s son Jeh’s name. The backlash arose out of the comparisons drawn between the baby and the historical character Jehangir (a barbaric Mughal emperor) who imprisoned the 5th Sikh Guru, Guru Arjan, tortured him, and executed him.
On the questions raised over Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan’s son’s name, Saba Ali Khan wrote, ““Momma n Jaan Jeh. When a MOTHER carries her child within her and gives him or her LIFE.. ONLY she and the father ….are ALLOWED to decide.. who how and what the child will grow as…. And The NAME (sic).”
She further added, “No one …NO ONE.. else, including other family members, who may gladly suggest, have a say. On anything! It’s her soul that has nurtured that baby. PARENTS are the only one with RIGHTS. Think it’s a reminder for EVERYONE to respect that. Today … tomorrow. Forever!!!! Love you Bhabs n Baby Jeh. Kiss from buajaan too (sic)!”
Long story short, she drove home the point that only parents have the right to make any sort of decisions for their kids.
Kareena’s Defence On Her Second Son Name
Kareena in response to the controversy surrounding her second son’s name said, “I am a positive person and I want to spread happiness and positivity. There is no place for negativity in our lives. Look at what Covid-19 pandemic has done. It has brought the world closer. That’s what all of us should think about.”
Saif’s Defence On His & Kareena Kapoor’s First Son Name
Kareena Kapoor & Saif Ali Khan have two kids together – Taimur (elder) and Jeh (younger). The couple had to endure brutal trolling even when they named their first son – Taimur. Twitter was flooded with people questioning whether the couple had named their son for Timur, the Central Asian invader who sacked Delhi in the 13th century.
As a result, Saif Ali Khan had to come forward and clarify why he named his son Taimur. It goes like –
“My wife and I love the sound of it and we love its meaning. I am aware of the heritage of the Turkish ruler-he was Timur, my son is Taimur, an ancient Persian name that means iron.”
“People talk about the country becoming right-wing and fascist, and we have all these fears…but the fact of the matter is that if you view the kind of unnecessary drama over Taimur, there were a lot of voices…I felt I didn’t have to say anything because a lot of people had spoken wisely and liberally. Voices that kind of vindicated my decision and made me feel that it’s absolutely fine (to have the freedom to name his child as he wished to),” he shared this with a leading Indian newspaper. The actor also added, “I should have added a disclaimer, as they do in the movies, that any resemblance to any person, living or dead, is purely coincidental.”
