Bangla Sahib Gurudwara History

Originally, the site was a bungalow belonging to Raja Jai Singh, a 17th-century Indian ruler. The eighth Sikh Guru, Guru Har Krishan, stayed here during his visit to Delhi in 1664. During this time, a smallpox and cholera epidemic broke out in the city. Guru Har Krishan, renowned for his compassion and healing powers, provided aid to the suffering, ultimately sacrificing his life to the epidemic. In his honor, Raja Jai Singh dedicated his bungalow to serve as a place of worship, which later became Gurudwara Sri Bangla Sahib.
