Air India has launched its Easy Connect service from Ahmedabad, offering passengers from Gujarat a simpler way to connect to foreign destinations via Delhi. The new service is part of the Indian government’s larger hub-and-spoke aviation effort to improve connectivity through Indian airports.
Ahmedabad has now been added to Air India’s expanding Easy Connect network which already includes Amritsar and Varanasi. The program permits qualifying foreign passengers to complete check-in and immigration processes at their originating airport and connect through Delhi without rechecking baggage or changing terminals.
What Is Air India’s Easy Connect Service?
Easy Connect, Air India’s campaign to ease international travel from smaller Indian cities by connecting them to the airline’s larger Indian hubs.
The new Ahmedabad service will allow qualifying foreign customers to travel:
Ahmedabad → Delhi -> Overseas destination
Passengers would be able to clear immigration at Ahmedabad and fly as international transit passengers through Delhi. This can cut down on the number of duplicated procedures that are usually connected with connecting from a domestic flight to an international service.
Two Ahmedabad–Delhi Flights Added to the Programme
Air India has designated two daily Ahmedabad-Delhi flights as Easy Connect flights:
- AI1117: Ahmedabad to Delhi, leaves 8:25 AM and arrives 10:15 AM, from September 2, 2026.
- AI1121: Ahmedabad to Delhi, departure at 20.15 hrs and arrival at 22.00 hrs from 01 Sep 2026.
These flights offer onward connectivity to 26 international locations within four hours after arriving in Delhi.
Destinations covered through the network include cities in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Europe, Australia, Asia Pacific, Southeast Asia and Gulf.
How the Service Can Help USA-Bound Travellers
The new service could be a great help to passengers from Gujarat who are flying to overseas places such as the US.
Eligible passengers can connect through Delhi, an Air India hub, instead of going through a foreign airport for an international connection.
“A traveler might, for example, undertake such a journey as:”
Ahmedabad → Delhi → USA
Air India’s Easy Connect method is aimed at providing through check-in and simplified transfer experience at the Indian hub.
It also provides an alternate connectivity option for passengers traveling to USA from Ahmedabad to connect onto Air India’s international network.
International Destinations Connected Through Delhi
Air India’s morning Ahmedabad Easy Connect service provides onward connections to destinations including:
- Amsterdam
- Dubai
- Frankfurt
- London
- Paris
- Rome
- Zurich
- Copenhagen
- Milan
- Vienna
- Kuala Lumpur
- Manila
- Riyadh
- Shanghai
The evening service connects passengers onward to destinations including Toronto, Sydney, London, Singapore, Seoul, Bangkok, Dubai and other international cities.
The exact onward connection available depends on the passenger’s itinerary and flight schedule.
What Travellers Need to Know
There are some conditions for passengers traveling on Air India’s Easy Connect service.
Air India said Indian nationals traveling internationally on an Easy Connect link must enrolll for DigiYatra. These services are not available at the spoke airport for Web Check-In and Customs Declaration.
Hence, travelers are suggested to verify their ticket instructions and get the relevant procedures done before reaching the Ahmedabad Airport.
Easy Connect bookings are available on Air India’s website, mobile app and through the Contact Center and travel agencies.
India’s Hub-and-Spoke Aviation Expansion
The Ahmedabad launch is part of a broader push to boost foreign travelers connecting via Indian airports instead of offshore hubs.
Air India wants to expand the Easy Connect services from other Indian cities and to link these “spoke” airports to its key hubs in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru in a phased manner.
The move could enable more passengers across India to travel to international locations and also cement India’s place as a global aviation hub.
What This Means for USA–India Travellers
Also worth a look for U.S. travelers planning vacations to Gujarat.
The new Easy Connect network would complement the international connectivity of Ahmedabad through Delhi and can provide a better experience for travelers who travel between Gujarat and places across North America and other international markets.
However, don’t confuse the Easy Connect service with a new nonstop Ahmedabad–USA flight. Passengers will still connect through Delhi on relevant routes to the United States.
