Amit Shah Launches Faster Immigration at 7 Indian Airports from January 16

If you’re someone who hates standing in long immigration queues, here’s some good news for you Starting January 16, 2025, the Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Program (FTI-TTP) is coming to seven more airports in India.

This means smoother and quicker immigration clearance for Indian nationals and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders at multiple locations across the country.

This program was first launched at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) in New Delhi on June 22, 2024. Now, it’s expanding to Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Cochin, and Ahmedabad.

The initiative aims to make international travel easier and more efficient by reducing wait times and streamlining the immigration process for trusted travelers.

What is FTI-TTP and How Does It Work?

FTI-TTP is similar to the Global Entry Program in the United States, which allows pre-approved, low-risk travelers to clear immigration quickly upon arrival. This program is designed to provide a fast, smooth, and secure immigration process at airports using automated e-gates.

To enroll, travelers need to complete an online registration by visiting the official website https://ftittp.mha.gov.in. The process requires filling out personal details and uploading necessary documents.

Once registered, the biometric data of applicants is collected either at a Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) or during their next airport visit.

At the airport, the process is simple:

• Passengers scan their boarding passes at the e-Gate.
• They then scan their passport for identity verification.
• Once their biometrics are authenticated, the e-Gate opens automatically, granting immigration clearance.

This system will eliminate long queues and make the process much faster for travelers.

Where is FTI-TTP Available Now?

As of now, FTI-TTP is already operational at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI), New Delhi. From January 16, 2025, the program will also be available at the following airports:

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will officially launch the expansion from Ahmedabad Airport on January 16, marking another step toward a hassle-free travel experience in India.

The government plans to extend this program to 21 major airports across India in the coming years. The Bureau of Immigration (BOI) is responsible for implementing and managing the FTI-TTP to ensure a smooth experience for all travelers.
