The airline shared a tweet on Tuesday i.e. November 15, 2022 – “Fly daily and non-stop from Mumbai to New York, on the luxurious B777-200LR. Daily flights start on 14th February 2023 with us. Fly non-stop”.

About The Aircraft That Will Be In Use

Air India Boeing 777-2000LR aircraft – Air India will be using the luxurious Boeing 777-2000LR aircraft for these nonstop flights. It has three cabin configurations, with 8 seats in First Class, 35 seats in Business Class, and 195 seats in Economy Class.

Flight Schedule For Air India New York-Mumbai Nonstop Flight 

• New York to Mumbai – Flight AI 116 will depart from New York’s JFK Airport at 10:55 AM on Tuesday, Feb 14, 2023, and arrive at Mumbai’s CSMI Airport at 11:35 AM on Wednesday, Feb 15, 2023. The duration of the flight will be 14 hours and 10 minutes. 
• Mumbai to New York – Flight AI 119, will depart from Mumbai’s CSMI Airport at 12:55 AM on Tuesday, Feb 14, 2023, and arrive at New York’s JFK Airport at 6:55 AM on Tuesday, Feb 14, 2023. The duration of the flight will be 16 hours and 30 minutes. 

History of JFK-BOM Non-Stop Flights | Why Were They Suspended?

Air India started nonstop direct services from Mumbai to New York (JFK) in December 2018. The airline operated three flights per week (Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday) between these locations. But, in February 2019, Air India decided to discontinue their nonstop direct flight between New York and Mumbai, owing to poor demand. According to the officials of Air India, the New York-Mumbai flight operation was causing huge losses to the airline. 

Problem – Thus, the airline suspended these flights due to the closure of Pakistan Airspace. The flight operation was expected to be started in June 2019. However, the company decided to not resume the operation. The spokesperson of Air India said – “The flight has been discontinued owing to poor load factor or low seat occupancy.” 

Solution – But, from February 2023, the airline will start operating nonstop flights from Mumbai to New York and vice versa on daily basis. And, the bookings for the same have been started. You can book these flights anytime with us. For now, there are a number of options you can choose from.
